Quality Assurance Technician

Functions

The role of the Quality Control Technician is to:

  • Perform tests before, during, and after production to ensure finished products meet quality standards and monitor output efficiency
  • Improve the cost-effectiveness of the production process
  • Ensure that products are ready for the market
  • Ensure that general factory areas maintain a high standard of cleanliness and hygiene
Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Operate the blending system and make required adjustments (Note: This includes making physical connections for various pieces of equipment.)
  • Use measurement tools to ensure that finished products meet specifications
  • Complete sanitation checklists and report any potential safety issues
  • Conducting inspection checks on goods and production processes
  • Report safety and quality infringements to the QA supervisors
  • Calibrate and clean testing equipment
  • Perform tests on raw materials and ingredients to ensure they meet the quality standards before authorization for use
  • Conduct verification and calibration of laboratory equipment at the required frequencies
  • Ensure proper identification and segregation of any product or materials that do not meet company specifications. Quality control technicians must retest and/or inspect any such products or materials ASAP to confirm their status.
  • Carry out cleaning and sanitizing processes included in the Cleaning and Sanitizing program
  • Collect and test samples according to the Microbiology and Environmental Monitoring Programs 
  • Maintain records of all testing and monitoring activities and any corrective actions taken.  
  • Be available to work overtime, when needed
  • Assist in maintaining health, safety and environment (HSE) requirements according to company and regulatory policies
  • Perform other duties and tasks as assigned

Competency

Education/Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a Science Related Field or 2 years of experience in a laboratory or manufacturing setting
  • At least one year of employment with Caribbean Bottling Co. with proficiencies demonstrated in required areas

  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Good communication skills
  • Willingness to work in noisy environments
