Caribbean Bottling Company (CBC), local producer of Coca-Cola and Dasani, is the official beverage provider for the Chickarney Challenge 2016.

Did you know that the ever popular “Walk-a-Thon” fundraiser is actually a great tool to help shape the importance of healthy and active lifestyles in the Bahamas? This idea has not been lost on Caribbean Bottling Company (CBC), local producer of Coca-Cola products including Dasani water. For the year thus far the company has sponsored large scale events such as Marathon Bahamas, Atlantic Medical Fun Run Walk, The Cancer Society Walk, and BTC’s One Bahamas Unity Walk. In addition to these popular events, CBC has also been official water/beverage provider to smaller, less publicized events such as the Heart Walk, Sandilands’ Annual Push/Walk-a-thon, the College of the Bahamas Walk, BRM Run the World Challenge, and Dr’s Hospital Fun/Run/Walk.

“When we select the events we would like to support, we do not simply consider the host organization or the cause being fundraised for, but also the amount of community support they extend, and if they will be encouraging their participants to live a healthy active lifestyle”, explains Cara Douglas – Marketing Manager, CBC.  “Creating a culture of physical activity and encouraging persons within our community to participate in events that promote this is a major key for both Caribbean Bottling Company, and the Coca-Cola Company.”

"Events like our annual Fun Run and Walk and Dri Tri, are a great way to encourage Bahamians to get moving and take care of themselves. We also host these events to raise money for the Dr Meyer Rassin Foundation Scholarship Fund to help young Bahamians pursue their dreams of becoming healthcare workers,” said Doctors Hospital Health Systems Marketing Director, Jessica Robertson.  “Pulling events like these off requires support from corporate sponsors, and Caribbean Bottling Company has never hesitated to step up and give. We are ever appreciative of their kindness and support to help us achieve these important objectives.”

“The 60+ members of Bahamas RoadMasters have incorporated running as part of our lifestyles; we have realized the benefits to exercise, and participate in running events, including Marathons, around the world,” says Anastasia Turnquest – Bahamas RoadMasters member. “As a result of our love for running we took on the challenge to include the Bahamian public at large by staging 10Ks and Bahamas Half Marathon. A very important part of running, and any physical activity, is to remain hydrated. On this note we thank Caribbean Bottling Company for always supporting us by supplying both Dasani, and Powerade helping to make our events a huge success.”

From less publicized community based walk-a-Thons to full scale national events, Dasani and Powerade are becoming fixtures in the Bahamian health and wellness communities, lending a helping hand, providing hydration to participants, and participating whenever possible.
