CBC Supports Inaugural Bahamas Chinese Dragon Boat Festival

The Caribbean Bottling Company (Bahamas) Ltd. is proud to support the Bahamas Chinese Dragon Boat Association (BCDBA) as they host their inaugural festival on August 20th – 21st 2022 at Breezes Bahamas, All Inclusive Resort. The BCDBA is made up of members of the local Bahamian Chinese community, whose families have lived in The Bahamas for three, and in some cases four generations. It was formed in response to a desire to find ways to showcase and share native Chinese culture and traditions in The Bahamas.

Originating in ancient China, Dragon boating is a unique team water sports activity that has a special ability to bring entire communities together through the wide range of participants accepted on dragon boat teams. The sport is open to all interested parties, aged 12 years and older. It requires participating team members to function and paddle as one unit in complete synchronicity as kept together by the beating of a drum in the bow of the boat. Dragon boating is also considered a therapeutic sport due to its proven positive effects for those recovering from cancer.

CBC encourages a healthy and active lifestyle along with community involvement and teamwork. In addition to financial support, CBC will provide PowerAde and Dasani products to the BCDBA to ensure the participants and athletes remain refreshed and hydrated over the course of the inaugural two day event.
